Meeting Minutes

October 18, 2011

 

 

President Liz called the meeting to order at 9:35 AM

29 members were present

Liz introduced the speaker, Kate Hammond, of Eglon Maple Tree Nursery.

Kate gave us pruning tips,  grafting information  and showed us how to take care of Maples Trees for home use.  She states that Rhododendron fertilizer was good for Maple trees.  We then had a tour of her garden and working facility. Trees were made available for purchase.

Liz thanked the hostesses Sharon R, Linda J and Patti, for the great Halloween treat bags

A gift was given to last years vice president Catherine for her service.

The minutes from September were approved .

Treasurer's report: was given by Ann I,  $8008.90

 Committee report:

                  Hospitality - Joani H distributed our new beautiful name tags.

                   Year books/ directory, were distributed by Diann

                   Programs- Bobbi,  next month we will have table and wreath decorating from Shannon who works at Nancy's Green Garden.

                   Christmas Party - We are having one and sign ups will be at the November meeting.

                   Plant Sale- Sue and Karen, Each member is responsible to bring 10 plants for the sale. Each member will receive a voucher for her participation and for any plants over the 10 .The next potting party is Wed Oct 26 at 10 am at Sue's home. House plants, bulbs seeds are all good items for the sale, these should be brought in May.

New Business/ information  Jim A will be part of the Art in the Woods this year . The dates for the event are November 11,12,13 2011.

Dragonfly Nursery has again donated plants to us for the sale. We need trucks to pick up the plants some time in late Oct / early Nov. If you can drive sign or call Sue/ Karen.

Pam W will contact Foxglove.

We had four guests at the meeting.
