President Liz called the meeting to order at 9:35 am.
Pledge of Allegiance was said.
39 members were present
The Program Chair Bobbi introduced Carol who organized the Sept program. Carol introduced Jeff Adams from RAIN GARDENS. Jeff gave a presentation on how to make a rain garden, showed slides of local gardens and gave information on how to get started. The information will be posted separately on the garden club web site.
HOSPITALITY: Joani H discussed the new plan regarding our name tags. They will be left after the meeting and Joani will bring the name tags to the meetings each month.
COMMUNITY REPORTS:
Kay talked about the Kingston Beautification cleanup which takes place on Oct 1 at 9:00 am. Volunteers are needed. Later in the month volunteers will be needed to take down the baskets. Contact Karen R 360 271-1581 for more info.
Christmas swags decorations will be made on Nov 25th to be displayed in town, volunteers are also need for this activity.
Sept 29th is Kingston Homecoming. Parade starts at 5:30 pm
Bobbi spoke about the p-patch and about the new picnic shelter that is being built at the Village Green.
The 2011-2012 program booklet will be available to all paid members at the OCT Meeting. The program booklet has the members’ names and the year’s list of coming programs.
Nancy M said that PIE IN THE PARK was a great success and thanked everyone for their help. The next event for the Village Green is the Apple Cider party tomorrow at the Village Green Park.
TREASURER REPORT: $8067.62 DUES are payable to Ann I at the meeting or mailed to her home.
PLANT SALE has four chairmen: Sue, Karen, Michael and Debbie;
Potting party Wed Sept 28th at 10:00am at Sue's. Soup and bread will be provided after the potting. Early Purchase Tickets will be given for participation and for plants over and above the 10 plants that each member is asked to provide. The tickets can be used at the pre-sale party in May.
GARDEN FLOWER SHOWS: Wolfe Elementary School Show was a success and was enjoyed by both children and garden club members there were 78 entries. Gordon school show was held Thur. and was also a great show. Thanks to Kathy M for the great ribbons, and to all the volunteers.
There were two guests at the meeting Anna and Marilyn.
SHOW AND TELL: Noel invited the club to visit her and Jim's garden to see the Heather and Hebe. She showed one of her plants. The garden was wonderful and the host and hostess were very knowable regarding the plants.
