Terri Stanley and Terry Mayemont from Mesogeo Gardens on Bainbridge Island
The meeting was called to order by President Liz at 9:45am.
She introduced the members to Darrell Reeck the new Pastor of Redeemer United Methodist Church and thanked him for allowing the Garden Club to hold our meetings in the church.
The pledge of allegiance was said.
Welcome: Pres. Liz welcomed all. She thanked the Hostesses – Karen R., Maxine, Elaine, Gwen and Carol M. She also thanked the Hospitality chairs – Mary Ann E. and Earleen H. Betty T. was also thanked for having the August potluck at her house.
Program: VP Catherine introduced the program speakers Terri Stanley and Terry Mayemont. They presented a wonderful program on Mediterranean zone/ drought tolerant planting for the Northwest and planting sand filters and Glendon Biofilter mounds. We viewed slides of beautiful gardens in Europe and learned about many drought tolerant plants. Members were able to purchase some of the plants.
Approval of minutes: The minutes from the August meeting were approved with no corrections.
Treasurer’s report: Ann reported that we have $10,346. Ann also stated that the fiscal year ends May 31st. All checks should be cashed by that date and all requests/receipts for funds should be turned in before that day.

Christmas Party: Nancy M stated that we will have the Christmas Party Dec. 15, 11:00am at the Kingston Cove Yacht Club. Bobbi W is chair of the kitchen committee and Noel is chair of the gifts. Diann K is decorations chair. Nancy will be asking others for help.
Blanche Gray: Annika reported that Blanche Gray is happening Sept 16 Gordon Elementary and Sept 21 at Wolfle Elementary. She passed around the sign up sheets for everyone to check their assignments.
Cell Phone numbers: Michael stated that it would be nice if we had cell phone numbers in the year book. If you want your cell phone # in the yearbook, you need to call Diann.
May Plant Sale: Karen A explained that there are going to be some changes this year.
Pre-admission ticket – This is a ticket that will allow a member to shop Friday evening at 7:00pm. This ticket can be earned in various ways: i.e. donating 10 more plants than the minimum, volunteering time on potting plants …etc. The committee chairs will let us know more concerning this pre-admission ticket.
Teams - Sue explained that we will also have “teams”. These teams will mainly serve and support and communication. The teams will be posted on the web site soon.
Potting Party - Oct. 5th Sue’s house 10:00 am Bring gloves, trowel and black gallon containers (if you have them)
Truck sign up Jim L will head up transportation of plants...but asked for sign up of those who have trucks.
New Business/ announcements
Kingston Open House – Oct 27. Liz asked for a volunteer to head up this event. The Garden Club has a table and hands out information about the club.
Cider Press at Village Green Park – Sept 23 4:00pm Speaker of the House Frank Chopp will be speaking. Nancy M encouraged us to attend and bring a jug for apple cider.
