Meeting Minutes
May 18, 2011
Call to order: Pres. Liz called the meeting order at 9:30am. This meeting was held at Fox Glove Nursery.
36 members were present
Guests were introduced.
Aloha Wright Report: Dawn reported on the money that had been awarded.
$1,150 to Reed Rambough for a landscape design and plan for berms at Wolfe Elem.
$1,000 to Village Green for the Garden Pea Patch Project
$1,000 to Stillwaters for the living fence and soil tubes
$500 to Community Beautification Committee – Hanging Baskets
$600 to Spectrum for Kitchen garden project
Garden Club will also be awarding $40 to 4H, $500 to Sharenet and $500 to Food Bank
Treasurer’s report: Ann reported that we have a balance of $ 8,031.76
Ann also asked that all bills need to turned into her ASAP
and that Committee Chairs need to turn in their budgets
Dues need to be paid at the June and August meetings.
Plant Sale
Karen A. thanked the members for their support. She also asked for feedback on what members felt worked and did not work. Sue reported that the prize for the “winning team” will be announced at next month’s meeting. The amount of money earned at the day of the sale was $4,855.61 after expenses $4,019.89. May 5, 2012 is the date for the sale next year.
Village Green Foundation
Kay reported that the $1million for the project has still not been allocated. This is money from the State. Donations from individuals are welcome.
Approval of Minute: Minutes of April and May were approved.
Next year’s officers: Liz announced that she is willing to serve as President for another year. She asked that we considered having a committee or “group effort” to plan the programs. It is a huge responsibility for the VP. The programs need to be planned by the June meeting so they can be printed in the Year book.
Program: Dave Halsaver gave a wonderful program on propagation. Members were able to shop following the program in beautiful sunny weather.
