Meeting Minutes

April 20, 2011

 

 

 

Welcome   President Liz called the meeting to order at 9:30am.  She thanked the Hospitality Committee, Earleen and MaryAnn and also the Hostesses, Dawn, Catherine, Dianne and Carol M

 

41 members were present

 

Pledge of Allegiance was said.

 

Program   Catherine introduced the program presenters, Nancy Keiser and Scott Palmtier from “The Wild Bird” in Poulsbo.  They gave a wonderful presentation on attracting birds to our yards.  We learned about various feeds and feeders.  “The Wild Bird” is open daily from 10:00am until 5:30pm.

 

Hansville Garden Club   Guests from Hansville Garden club announced that they are selling raffle tickets for a variety of items.  The raffle winners will be announced at the garden club plant sale, May 7th.  The plant sale takes place at the Hansville Community Center.

 

Minutes   The minutes from the March meeting have not been posted on the internet.  Approval was deferred until the May meeting.

 

Guests  Elaine introduced her guest Elaine

 

Allocation of funds  Liz announced that there will be a meeting after next month’s meeting to discuss distribution of funds.  This meeting will take place at Liz’s home.

 

Treasurer’s report   The balance as of 3/31/11 is $8,285.66.   Ann I stated that there are 86 paid members

 

Announcements

 

Jane announced that there is going to be a meeting tomorrow, April 21 at  1:00pm at Nancy’s Green Garden to discuss creating a growing space at the Kingston Village Green.  Garden Club members are encouraged to attend.   $400 has already been allocated for this project.

 

Kay stated that 1 million dollars (Capitol Funding Project) has been approved by the House and Senate for infrastructure for the Kingston Village Green.   The Metropolitan Park District, which was approved by voters will allow for tax dollars to provide for maintenance.

 

Kay also encouraged volunteering in Kingston. 

 

Catherine announced that next month’s meeting will be at Fox Glove Nursery.  A count was taken of those who will be attending.

 

Maxine thanked Cathy M, James  and Karen for their help in getting the park bench at Kingston Village.

 

Nancy announced that we are still selling raffle tickets for the quilt.   The winning ticket will be drawn at the Plant sale.

 

Plant Sale – Karen and Sue updated us on the Plant Sale.  Eleanor completed the sign-up sheet with all the volunteers.   This will be posted on the Garden Club Web-site or emailed to all members.    All plants are to be at Sue’s by this Friday.

 

The plants sale committee has announced that they will be doing it again next year!

 

More announcements

 

Carol showed us the new sign that was painted by Maggie, a member of the Redeemer United Methodist Church.  Jan will be sending her a thank you note.

 

Carol also announced that there will be a Spring Tea at the Church, May 14th.  The cost is $10 and she has tickets.

 

Liz announced that Eglon Nursery is holding their 4th Annual Public Opening April 29th and 30th.  Thursday, April 28th is a sneak peek for Garden Club Members.

 

Hollace announced that Indianola Garden Club is selling raffle tickets for a tour of Dan Hinkley’s home.  The raffle tickets are $10 each and the drawing will be held May 7th.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 11:40am.
